Pag* 4 No vwbf 23, 1965 ROSAVERIAN R O S A V E R IA N S P O T L G H T S ; Mary D«nn and Paggy Cornier* Ivelyn Pellegrino Evelyn Pellegrino, one of four daughters of Mr. and Mrs. D. Vincent Pellegrino, was born in Brooklyn, but has lived in Albany most of her life. Before coming to Saint Rose, she attended Vincentian I n s I. i t ute, where she was most interested in literary and foreign language activities. At Saint Rose she enrolled as a French major, but will graduate with a major in English. However, Evelyn is still intrigued by foreign languages and hopes to pursue this interest in later studies. She is thinlt-ing of studying Italian nexi summer. Evelyn has been secretary of the former Sodality, president of the junior and senior class. She has served as chairman of the May Day Secretarial Committee, co-chairman of the President’s Reception for 1964 Parents’ Weekend, and general chairman of the Junior Weekend and Senior Ball. In addition, Evelyn has been news and feature writer for the Rosaverian. She is a member of Alpha Mu Gamma, and Aliciam. Among the activities she has most enjoyed at Saint Rose is the teaching of art she has done at the LaSalle School. She feels that her students taught her far more than she taught them. Art has always been one of her pet interests and she hopes to do much more with it in the future. Her favorite painters are Goya, Renior and Wyeth. Next year she intends to work for her master’s degree in British literature at either the University of Rhode Island or the University of Connecticut. To date, she has been accepted by Rhode Island. Ultimately, she is considering teaching on the college level, but she has no definite plans for her immediate future. Peggy Conners Peggy Conners has resided and been educated in Albany. She has two sisters and a brother. Her sister Mary Alice graduated from CSR, and her sister Maureen is a sophomore. Peggy attended Public School 20, and the Academy of the Holy Names, where she was sa-lutatorian of her class. At Saint Rose she has chosen a Social Studies major in Education, Her greatest curricular joys have been the Honors Programs in which she has participated. She has been a member of Alpha Mu Gamma since her sophomore year, and on the Dean’s List for three years. Recently, Peggy was nominated by the college for the Danforth and Woodrow Wilson Fellowships. Extracurricularly, her attention has been devoted to'student government, CCD, and, now, Young Christian Students. She has served as a Building Fund representative, class representative to Senate during her sophomore and junior years, and is currently Student Senate President. Also, Peggy’s interest in politics is seen in her activity in Mock Senate, to which she has been a delegate for two years. Peggy hopes that her future will, in some measure, repay her family, college, and community for the fortunate upbringing and education she has received. Immediate plans include student teaching a t Shaker High School; further plans include a graduate school, possibly a year or two in Catholic Relief Services or E.L.V., and eventual college teaching. Mary Denn Evalyn Pcilagrlne Mary Denn hails from Utica New York, where she attended De Sales High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas E. Denn and is the youngest of their six children. Since coming to Saint Rose, she has served as vice-president oi the sophomore class, treasurer and currently vice-president of Senate. Mary is an English major and in February will student teach at Guilderland Central High School. She enjoys reading and traveling. This summer Mary spent two weeks in South Carolina, where she worked as a counselor at Camp Saint Mary’s. This was a volunteer program, sponsored by the Saint Rose Mission Committee. Mary’s plans for the future include teaching and hopefully graduate school. Mary Ana MeManamon The present editor of Rosaverian, Mary Ann MeManamon is a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, New York. Her only sister, Roberta, is a sophomore at Saint Rose. Mary Ann is currently the Town of Bethlehem Ambassador to Japan, and is presently giving lectures to various civic organizations on her experiences of this past summer, which she spent in Japan on scholarships from the Town of Bethlehem and Japan Air Lines. An English major, Mary Ann has been a member of the honors program in her freshman, sophomore, and junior years, and has been on the Dean’s List. She has tutored Latin and American History. Interested in communications, Mary Ann was a member of Communications Committee for two years, and has written and produced two television programs on channel WTEN. She was a discussion leader for NFCCS Forum for two years, as a non-voting member of the student senate at Saint Rose and edits a newsletter, carries out secretarial duties, and serves as an executive of the New York-New Jersey Region of NFCCS. For the same period of time, Margaret has also served as feature editor of the Rosavenan, after having been on the staff since she entered college. She is a member of Aliciam, Has taught retarded children under CCD, and goes to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital e v e r y Sunday to take wheelchair patients to Mass. Last semester sne was one of the volunteers who spent Laster vacation working for the Christian Appalachia Project. Rose Virgilio Albany resident Rose Virgilio is Chairman of the Student Senate Building f ’und Committee. Hose served as Sophomore class representative to this committee and was Assistant Chairman in her Junior year. Last year she was a member of the steering Mary Ann and National Student Association Campus Travel Director. In the past, Mary Ann has been a member of Soladity,oAlitiiam, and International R e l a t i o n s Club, and spent two years on Rosaverian as a staff member before becoming assistant editor and then editor. Mary Ann’s hobbies included painting in oils, playing and composing on the piano, learning the recorder, and learning Japanese. She also enjoys listening to-classical music. Margaret Waterson A native of Albany, Margaret Waterson graduated fhom Vincentian Institute and is attending Saint Rose on a scholarship as an English major. She has participated in the freshman, sophomore, and junior honors programs and has been on the dean’s list. After graduation, she plans to serve as an Extension or Vista volunteer before continuing her studies in graduate school. Margaret has concentrated her extra-curricular activities in two main areas; student government and student press. At the end of her sophomore year she was elected regional secretary of the National Federation of Catholic College Students and was re-elected the following year. In this capacity she serves MeManamon committee for Project 70. As a member oi the Sodality in her tr ;shman and sophomore years and of the CCD in her junior and senior years Rose has taught handicapped children on a released time program. As a sophomore she worked with underprivileged youth thrpugh the parish apostoiate program. A graduate of Vincention Institute, Rose is holder of a Regents and a CSR scholarship. A mathematics major, she has been on the Dean’s List for the past three years. Next year, Hose plans to teach or to attend graduate school. In her spare time Hose enjoys playing piano, knitting and getting to know other people. Pat DeClue A graduate of Saint Agnes Cathedral High School in Rockville Centre, Pat DeClue is an elementary education m a j o r here at Saint Rose. This year she is serving as Chairman of the R e l i g i o u s Organizations Council, while some of her other activities have included- Glee Club, French Club, Resident Choir, Athletic Association, and Sodality. She was secretary of both Athletic Association and Pius X Committee of Sodality. As an officer of the Sodality E x e c u t i v e Committee she Pat DoClu* served as Assistant Phase Captain for May Day in her freshman year and later as a member of the May Day Reviewing Stand Committee. In her junior year, Pat was elected Assistant Chairman of Religious Affairs. When she isn’t studying to make the Dean’s List, Pat enjoys reading, knitting, and tennis. She plans to do her student teaching in fourth grade at the Roessleville School in Albany, and after graduation, Pat would like very much to teach third or. fourth grade on Long Island. Gail Keeton Current President of Resident Student Council, Gail Keeton is from Oneonta, New York, where she attended Oneonta Senior High School. A busy extra-curricular schedule at Saint Rose included many official positions: Freshman class representative to Senate, junior and senior Morgarat Wotorson and Keu Viralllo Gflil Kaoton delegate to the National Federation of Catholic College Students, second vice-president of Resident Student Council, secretary of International Relations Club. In addition, she has served as co-chairman of Campus Charities Committee and on the Parents’ Weekend Committee, and has been a member of Glee Club, Sodality, and the Third Order of Saint Francis. As a Social Studies major, Gail will be student teaching during second semester at Wa-tervliet High School, where she will teach World History and American History. Post-graduation hopes include a career in government and further study in history and political science. Academically, Gail has pur ticipated in the honors program during her freshman, sophomore and junior years, and, has been on the Dean’s List for three years.
