Edward Kennedy addresses John Kerry supporters at a democratic rally at the Labor Union in downtown Albany. The rally was held to further boost voter turnout for Kerry for the New York primaries earlier this month. I l Sen. A table was set up directly to the right of the entrance for people to sign up for news about Senator Kerry’s campaign: Attendees could also sign up to make a donation to the campaign. The democratic rally tor John Kerry was held right before the primaries in an effort to boost voter turnout and make Senator Kerry’s name known and his political stances heard. SAINT ROSE EVENT y n 2nd annual 'War of the Roses' pits classes against each other for bragging rights as basketball squad on-campus " ’• ■ ■ Virginia Watson S ta f f Writer ' T he month of March brings with it not only much-anticipated warm weather, but also the annual basketball tournament known as The War of the Roses at The College of Saint Rose. Held on Tuesday March 23 at Albany High School, this is the second year the event has taken place. “It lets students display their ultimate bragging rights,” Alyssa Gosnell, chairman of the event, said. The tournament is primarily a competition between the classes. Students first register at the SEB table and sign up to play for their designated class. One game is freshmen versus sophomores and the other is juniors versus seniors. The final game is then between the winners from each of those respective games. Prominent players on both sides of the political spectrum have e n t r e n c h e d themselves in what will likely be a key issue in the upcoming p r e s id e n t i a l election. I believe we should respect individuals as we take a principled stand for one of the most fiin-damental, enduring instimtions^ of our civilization. A4 > CAMPUS NEWS C o lleg e to host ‘Homeless 1 Awareness D a y ’ on-campus Vanessa D’Eredita Staff Writer Where will you fall asleep tonight? A simple question for most, yet a daily tasksf for the 1,000s of homeless in the Albany! region. This Wednesday, March 24th will represent the College of Saint Rose’s first Homeless Awareness Day throughout the campus boundaries. The event will give students a chance to see up front the daily life of a homeless person as various places of ‘shelter’ will be set up across campus where the homeless may be found. Facts and information will be arranged at different points around the campus as well. “The day is a reminder that not everyone has what we (as a communi-. ty) have.” Director of Campus Ministries, Joan Morgan said. • Along with Horgan. the Social Work Club, Habitat for Humanity members and participants of the Washington D.C. Trip who assisted the homeless will all play a role in the day's events. The main focus of the day is to educate the' community, making them aware of those less fortunate surviving among us. “1 am extremely elated about this day.
